	Life on a Rocky shore: "Life on a Rocky Shore", a colorful Powerpoint slide show, provides an introduction to the plants and animals of the Pacific Northwest's rich Intertidal Zone. Produced in 2000 by Nancy Sefton working as Triton Productions in cooperation with the Marine Science Society of the Pacific Northwest. The presentation contains over 100 beautiful photos, a dozen video clips, graphics, text over, reviews, and a final quiz. This teacher-driven learning tool is an introduction to Pacific rocky shores, and the fascinating marine creatures that are revealed by the lowest tides. The presentation use 100 photographs, video clips, art and graphics to illustrate the story of life in the intertidal zone of Rocky shores. Learn about the tides themselves, the "bands of life" that appear as the water level falls, which creatures live in which horizontal band, and how they've adapted to life in each zone. Marine animals are then divided by their biological groups for further study. There's also a special section on seaweeds, and their roll in this complex ecosystem. The teacher moves to the next screen at his/her own pace, simply by pressing the spacebar (when showing on computers) or a button on the remote (when showing on a TV screen). On-screen text explains the material, but you can also provide an informal lecture over this silent presentation. The presentation includes a printable Teacher's Guide.
